We are pleased to announce the recent hire of Dawn Mantz, joining our team in the role of Environmental Sales Manager in North America and Asia Pacific (excluding China and Japan).

US EPA Plans to Enforce Restrictions on Atrazine Use

Atrazine is a chlorinated herbicide that is used to prevent the growth of annual grasses and broadleaf weeds. The European Union has banned all uses of atrazine due to human exposure concerns over developmental and reproductive toxicity.

US FDA Limits Certain Phthalates in Food Packaging Materials

The United States Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) has reopened the comment period to gather additional feedback on the available use and safety information for nine remaining phthalates (eight plasticizers and one monomer) currently authorized for use as plasticizers in food packaging and food contact applications.

Update on Halogenated Compounds from EURL

Halogenated compounds are often regarded as industrial contaminants due to their use in biocides and sanitizers; however, they originate from both natural and pollutant sources. Halogenated compounds contribute to the aroma of foods, with chlorinated and brominated compounds being the most commonly reported, but this may simply be due to the difficulty associated with analyzing and identifying other halogenated compounds.
