Human Colorectal Cancer-on-Chip Model to Study the Microenvironmental Influence on Early Metastatic Spread

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common causes of cancer mortality worldwide. To gain a better understanding of CRC progression, organ-on-chip models that emulate in vivo physiology have been designed. Expanding upon previous chips, Mumenthaler and colleagues developed an enhanced on-chip model system to interrogate the CRC metastatic process. The tumor microenvironment was analyzed through various analytical techniques, including MS-based metabolomics with stable isotope-labeled standards (cat. no. MSK-QC-KIT). This work provided a means to study cancer progression in a patient-specific manner, offering potential insights into future precision medicine approaches.
