US EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson recently announced plans to strengthen regulations on four known carcinogenic compounds often found in drinking water. With this decision, tetrachloroethylene, trichloroethylene, acrylamide, and epichlorohydrin will face increased scrutiny, and perhaps stricter regulation.
read moreIn January 2009, the Conference of the Parties (COP), the governing body of the Stockholm Convention, agreed to incorporate nine chemicals into the list of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) as defined by the Convention. In addition, the Persistent Organic Pollutants Review Committee (POPRC), a subsidiary body to the Stockholm Convention, adopted three chemical compounds to be considered for future inclusion as POPs.

Cerilliant Corporation, CILs longtime collaborator for dioxin and furan standards, has received accreditation under ISO Guide 34 for Reference Material Producers, as well as ISO/IEC 17025 for Testing and Calibration Laboratories.
