| Internal Standard for GC/MS by Technical Support |
| |
Q. |
I will be using Toluene as an internal standard for GC/MS . Could you please recommend which isotope label would be best? |
| |
A. |
Toluene (13C6, 99%) provides a much better internal reference standard than the less expensive deuterated version. The deuterated version is not a good choice due to the fact that the deuterium atoms can be lost during analysis. |

| Dissolving an Amino Acid by Technical Support |
| |
Q. |
Can you please tell me in what solvent to dissolve
L-Cysteine (U-13C3, 98%; 15N, 98%) CNLM-3871? |
| |
A. |
L-Cysteine dissolves in water, alcohol, acetic acid, and aqueous ammonia solutions. Water is safe for cell culture. The others are poisonous to some microorganisms, therefore I would only recommend water when working with cell culture. |

| Composition of Sodium L-Lactate by Technical Support |
| |
Q. |
What amount of 13C is in 1 gram of Sodium L-Lactate (1-13C, 99%) 20% W/W in H2O? |
| |
A. |
The description of the compound denotes a price per gram of compound not isotope. This translates to mean a customer gets 1 gram of Sodium L-Lactate(1-13C, 99%). This product is packaged as a 20% W/W solution. The customer will receive the 1g of Sodium L-Lactate (1-13C, 99%) in 5 grams of solution. |

| Composition of BioExpress 1000 by Technical Support |
| |
Q. |
How is your BioExpress 1000 Growth Media prepared? What type of algae is used and what are the other additives? |
| |
A. |
A strain of Agmenellum, a blue-green algae is used. The cells are lyophilized and undergo acid hydrolysis to break up the protein into amino acids and purified to remove carbohydrates, lipids and pigments. No growth factors are added. The media is buffered with sodium and potassium phosphate. There is also chloride present from the hydrolysis. The media is mainly amino acids, small peptides, NaCl and water. Small amounts of Potassium, phosphate, glucose and lipid are also present. |
